On the morning of Sept. 29, a group is comprised of the Culture and Tourism Department of Henan Province, Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcast and Tourism, and Zhengzhou Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage visited Shaolin Temple to investigate and Survey the preservation of cultural relics under the guidance of Tian Kai, director of the Henan Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage, accompanied by Yang Jinjun, mayor of Dengfeng municipal government, and other officials
The investigating group seriously learned about the preservation and repairing efforts of all halls in Shaolin Temple under the guidance of director Tian Kai. Abbot Shi Yongxin introduced Shaolin Temple’s halls’ preservation and restoration, fire safety, termite control, ancient mural painting conservation and so on, unanimously appraised by the investigating group.
Accompanied by abbot Yongxin, the investigating group also visited Shaolin Temple’s monitor room and mini-fire station, checked the registration form of fire safety inspection and routine patrols, speaking highly of Shaolin Temple’s security protection efforts and contingency plan.
At the Abbot Hall, director Tian Kai asked abbot Yongxin the construction situation of Shaolin Museum, and exchanged views on the next construction works of Shaolin Museum with abbot Yongxin. Director Tian mentioned that the construction of Shaolin museum could not only fully display cultural relics collected by Shaolin Temple and Shaolin Chan Wu Yi culture, but also comprehensively demonstrate remarkable glamour of the world tangible cultural heritage in the “centre of the heaven and earth”.
