November 19, 2020 or the 5th day of the tenth lunar month is the anniversary of the founder of Chan Buddhism Dharma’ s birth. Shaolin Temple, the ancestral monastery of Chan sect, hosted the solemn refuge ceremony for disciples of the Three Gems. More than 50 devout men and women invited master Shi Yongxin, abbot of Shaolin Temple, to ask for being conferred the Three Refuges.

At 10 am, incense smoked from the burner and the sound of striking the chime stone approached the way while disciples conferred lining up followed the Yinli master to invite abbot Yongxin for being their master of the Three Refuges.

Abbot Yongxin gave a dharma teaching: you have vowed the four great pledges with wisdom leading first. Though your shape or body is the same as the secular world, your mind is Bodhisattva. Then your virtues and merits attained are incredible.

The refuge dharma assembly was completed successfully at 10: 30 am. All disciples attained purified shape or body, feeling joyful. Then followed abbot Yongxin burning incense, paying respect for Buddha, devoutly offered sacrifice for Buddha and transferred these virtues and merits to the glory and permanence of Buddhist Dharma. Prayed for world peace, prosperity and security of the country, elimination of the epidemic, and safety and health of all sentient beings.
